Adding to earlier...

Wow, I'm posting a lot tonight. To add to my rant from earlier

NOT every Yami fan who likes Yaoi says they are all gay.

Just wanted to point that out.

It bugs me about fandom... just a little thing. People over generalize. Not just characters and such - that doesn't bug me so much as they do it to one ANOTHER.

It is easiest to say things like 'most' or 'all' or 'everyone' - yes... but... it isn't correct.

By far. There is such a variety of fans out there, to generalize means to piss people off. And I dunno, that seems to SURPRISE the people who do it, or make them defensive. Which is just... odd. If they'd think on it, they'd realize it.

Hopefully.

In any case, I don't believe they are all gay. *shakes head*

Actually I think most of them are, as my friend who roleplays Watari put it, "indiscriminate."

*grins*

In a roleplay I do for Yami with a friend Tatsumi is currently having troubles with a -female- not a male. Oriya isn't paired with Muraki in a romantic sense at all - in fact, they aren't paired in a traditional sense at all.

And Watari's love interest had trouble admitting he could possibly like a guy at first... soooo things aren't always "everyone in Yami is gay."

Not at all. And I think that is true of a majority of its fans. Not all, mind you, YES there are those out there who say that they ALL are... but then again - even some of that number only say that cause they are doing it in pure fun. Smut for the sake of smut. Not all of them claim there is a basis or even care if there is one. They write it cause they like it, not because they think it could or is true.

Some yes, some no.

Generalizing sucks.

*Sighs* Wish there was a way around that.

*huggles her RP version of Watari*

Don't forget to mention that we made up that in the past, Watari was in love with a girl before falling for his current boyfriend! ^.^

And that Tatsumi had sex with Tsuzuki (even if it was a drunken mistake).

Heh, I'd say we interp. them pretty indiscriminate.

As you said, a lot of the relationships in Yami rise above gender. In [livejournal.com profile] ariseishirou's rant thread, someone commented that Tsuzuki and Hisoka often sound very homophobic, and yet... there are things between them that still trascend this. There are things between Muraki and Tsuzuki that transcend such things. Tsuzuki himself is obviously very above gender. He oggles girls occasionally, and flirts with them, but then the next minute he'll be telling Hisoka how pretty he is and getting very touchy with him. It isn't about gender at all for him, I don't think.

*snores* It's too late, I don't think any of that made any sense...
